A man armed with two hammers has robbed a jewellery store in Melbourne's south-west.
The balaclava-clad thief stole an unknown amount of jewellery from a store in a Werribee shopping centre yesterday afternoon.
Dramatic video taken by terrified onlookers captured the moment the thug, dressed in black, stormed the Michael Hill outlet.
Shoppers can be seen sprinting away from the shop as the robber smashes the counter.
He quickly grabs jewellery before sprinting out the doors of the shopping centre.
Witnesses told 9NEWS they watched on in disbelief as the robbery occured right in front of them.
