8th NRN jamboree begins in Kathmandu
The 8th jamboree of Non Resident Nepalis (NRNs) has begun in Kathmandu. More than 1,700 Nepalis diaspora scattered all over the world are participating in the event.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the ceremony being held at Hotel Hayat. The jamboree will continue till Tuesday, it is learnt.
High ranking government officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara are present on the occasion.
The biggest highlight of the programme will be the election of the International Coordination Council (ICC) of the NRNA, the apex umbrella body of NRNs, which will be held on Monday.
The election, which is held in every two years, sees various NRNs contending for different post of the association, including the president.
This year, two contenders vying for the post of the president are Bhaban Bhatta and Jamuna Gurung.
