CASHED-UP St Kilda could “throw their wallet” at gun AFL free agent Andrew Gaff should the midfielder want out of West Coast, according to foxfooty.com.au senior reporter Tom Morris.
Gaff is a restricted free agent at season’s end and has repeatedly stated his plan to not discuss any new deal until the second half of the season.
However Morris said a host of Victorian-based clubs are lining up to secure Gaff, with Melbourne reportedly in the box seat should he leave the Eagles.
But Morris said during his live blog on foxfooty.com.au that the Saints would likely offer Gaff the most cash.

“I’d be surprised if the Saints don’t throw $900,000 at him,” Morris said.

“I suspect the Dees could pay him $800,000 and get him. I think he’s worth around $750,000-$800,000 ... Maybe more if he delivers in September this year.”
Asked if Gaff was worth more than $800,000, Morris said: “Yes potentially, maybe he’s worth $850,000.

“But the reality is he’s worth whatever a club is willing to pay him.

“Watch the Saints throw their wallet.”

He added that Gaff was more likely to leave the Eagles than teammates Jeremy McGovern and Scott Lycett.
