Indian Boy cuts off his own tongue in order to please the Gods

Lalmohan Soren, a 17-year old boy, was at the Mahedevgarha Temple in Jharkhand when he decided to go further than nearly anyone else would ever go. There was blood everywhere, and people were concerned.
Next to the boy was a note with the words, “I have cut off my tongue and offered it to Lord Shiva. Please do not throw me out of the temple, I just want to sit here at the feet of the Lord.”
When the head of the temple saw what the boy had done, he talked him into going to the hospital for treatment. Doctors tried to reconnect the boy’s tongue, but were unable to do so. He was sent home within a few days.
This part of India is known for the Santhal tribes, who have some very unorthodox rituals. The boy remains proud of his act, but is on a liquid diet and is unable to talk
The boy’s mother, Lalmuni Soren said “My son has been involved in religious practices since childhood. He takes a keen interest in rituals, but I never believed he’d one day severe his tongue to please the Gods. I don’t know what will happen to him now, he’ll never be able talk properly again, so what future he will have is up to the Gods.”
Despite not knowing her son’s future, the mother believes that her son will be blessed for his sacrifice.
