San Diego police officers are investigating an East Village shooting that left five people injured, police said.

Initial reports indicate there may have been two shooting locations — near 15th and J streets and in the area of 17th Street and Island Avenue. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

One witness told officers there were two shooters who were last seen running east on Island Avenue near 19th Street.

Both suspects were described as being black between the ages of 18 and 25. One man was said to be armed with a black handgun. He was wearing gloves and was about 6 feet 2 inches tall. The other man was wearing a pullover sweatshirt with blue or white squares on the front.

Other witnesses described at least two vehicles that were seen driving away from the area.

The area was quickly flooded with officers and multiple downtown streets have been cordoned off with police tape.

This is a breaking news story that will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
